US Climate Policy reversal under President Trump has taken major steps to undo the climate progress made under the Biden administration. The biggest move so far is the “big beautiful bill,” passed on July 3 by the Republican-led Congress.
This bill removes nearly all the support for clean energy projects like solar and wind, electric vehicles, and green manufacturing. Because of this US climate policy reversal, experts say the US will add 7 billion extra tonnes of carbon emissions by 2030 making it harder to fight global warming.
Missing Emission Goals by Billions of Tonnes Adds to Climate Change

Under the Paris Agreement, the US had promised to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 50–52% by 2030. But with Trump’s new direction, emissions will only fall 20% from 2005 levels, or just 3% from today’s numbers.
This means the country will miss its goal by 2 billion tonnes in 2030 alone. That’s about the same as Indonesia’s yearly emissions, and the US climate policy reversal will be a set back in the global fight against climate change.
The US Climate Policy Reversal Is Raising Energy Costs
This new direction is also expected to increase costs on American families, researchers estimate that:
- Energy bills will rise $165 by 2030
- Bills could go up more than $280 by 2035
- Electricity prices may increase 7% by 2026, or $110 a year
States like Wyoming, North Carolina, and Tennessee could see even steeper increases. With fewer electric vehicles and less solar and wind power, households will spend more on fuel and electricity.
The Future Without Clean Energy Support
Without tax credits and federal help, the growth of clean energy will slow down. Solar and wind power projects will shrink by tens of gigawatts, and many developers may cancel or delay plans.
The US climate policy reversal will also remove tax credits for electric vehicles and clean manufacturing, which could mean fewer green jobs and less American-made clean technology. Experts warn this will not only harm the environment, but also reduce the country’s ability to compete globally in the clean energy market.
