Similarly, renters are also transitioning to more energy efficient lighting. In both home ownership and renter scenarios the dramatic decrease in the cost of LED lights and their easy availability to purchase supports continued residential acceptance.

Federal Government Support of Efficient Lighting

To promote ongoing adoption of efficient lighting, states and local governments along with utility companies offer programs aimed at reducing energy consumption. Incentives include subsidized purchase of high-efficiency light bulbs and utility rebates. Together with federal government programs including Energy Star and Lighting Facts, which provides labeling information, the future of LED illumination looks good. It’s so easy to say it looks bright, but that’s cheeky!

Conversion to LED lighting in the commercial and industrial (C&I) markets is slower relative to residential but change is gaining speed.
